Defence

Defence is a very useful skill to have. Depending on your defence level, your less likely to be hit. But also, the higher it is, the more armour you can wear. The levels for certain armour is:
bronze-plate.pngLevel 1: Bronze

iron-plate.pngLevel 1: Iron

steel-plate.pngLevel 5: Steel

black-plate.png Level 10: Black

mithril-plate.png Level 20: Mithril

addy-plate.pngLevel 30: Adamant

rune-plate.pngLevel 40: Rune

granite-plate.pngLevel 50: Granite (with 50 strength)

dragon-chain.pngLevel 60: Dragon

bandos-plate.pngLevel 65: Bandos armour

barrows.pngLevel 70: Barrows armour (with 70 strength, ranged and mage for respective armour)

Bronze is very affordable. Good for newcomers, but those with at least some patience will save for iron, better and still affordable. Steel needs few levels and a full set costs less than 1K. Pretty easy to wear, but for impatient newbies it doesn’t work. Black is a very good piece of armour, but the full set is quite costly for a new player. Unless you can make money skip mithril- It is very effective but a bit hard to get with no money. Adamant is a must- Very good armour for a low price. If you don’t take Rune either you’re a range/mager or don’t play Runescape. It is law that you have rune. Despite its huge leap in price from adamant, it’s a must-have piece of armour offering very good defences. You need to do Dragon Slayer to wear the Platebody though. Granite is about as good as Rune but gives strength bonuses. You need 50 strength too, so don’t just train defence if you want Granite. Dragon is an even bigger leap- for full it’s 12.5MIL! The armour is extremely affective though, even if the prices are outrageous. By this time you’ll have worked out a great money-making skill, so spend about a week doing that and you might have saved up enough. I don’t know about Bandos Armour, except it costs a bit. While Barrows armour costs less than Dragon and Bandos, it decays over time and you have to spend money to repair, which ends up costing more than dragon etc..

Black, Rune and Adamant are also included in Clue Scrolls. In level 1 clues, you can get black armour trimmed or gilded (more later). That’s the same with Adamant. But Rune has trimmed, gilded, zamorak, guthix, saradomin and gold armour. These are amazingly pricy though.

Gilded and trimmed armour has bits of gold showing out or blue etc.

While it has the same bonuses, it is rarer and costs way, way more than regular armour.
